How to Access Medicare Ambulance-Provider Payment Data Files

CMS releases summary provider payment data once a year, with a two year lag.

I’ve found this data very useful to scope out the market and get an overview of provider charges.

You can access the data here: https://data.cms.gov/provider-summary-by-type-of-service/medicare-physician-other-practitioners

The have a few summary options, but my go-to dataset is “Medicare Physician & Other Practitioners - by Provider and Service.”

You’ll need to filter by “Rndrng_Prvdr_Type” containing “ambulance.” Then export to Excel and enjoy!
